interesting huh ??

also if i shut it down using the power button , as soon as i release the button it boots up again, then if i do it again straight awy it shuts down ,but nt for long, gotta pull the power cable out the back for it to stay off.

this wasnt too much of a bother, but now on a few start ups it restarts as soon as the desktop pops up.
next boots says its recovered from a serious error (assume thats a standard response to the situation)

so the questions are:
how dangerous is this to my system?
is it the case?
is it the PSU ?

PS the case was second hand, & it did start doing this after i got it .....

(needed something bigger then my mini-tower for my new XP chip)

Poltergeist!

Get a priest to perform an exorcism! Soon! :D

Sorry can't help it!

BTW aren't we supposed shut down our computer by selecting shutdown from the start menu? Otherwise, when I need to shut my computer down with the power button (such as when it had crashed), then yes, sometimes it'll turn back on as soon as I release the button. Especially when I had to hold the button in for several seconds before it will shut down. Don't know why, as I rarely had to do it. (hey, my computer wasn't that crash-prone! :D

yeah i shut down the 'correct'way

that bnow even simply restarts, it kicks back on straight away, making shut down & restart the same thing here.

i do have WOL cable on, i am pretty sure i have tried it un plugged, but i am unplugging it now just in case (still havent figured out how to use it anyway)

my hunch is on the case, being second hand & started happening when i got it.

but can a case really create an electrical current to turn it on & off??

I nearly killed a CPU once because my friggin' Gigabyte board likes to boot up as soon as I plug in the power cable. And my PSU doesn't have an on/off switch. :|
