This may be a dumb suggestion, but this is the problem I had:

You know when you start up your computer, and just before it enters windows, it brings up the Microsoft Networking log-in screen? Well, press ENTER, not ESC!!!

I couldn't figure it out, then I realized you need to be logged in to share things, including the net...

you have the gateway and stuff set correctly?

in my knowledge, machines being able to see each other has nothing to do with sharing internet. make sure you use DHCP (if you can), and set the gateway and stuff.

Nod, it doesent have anything to do with them seeing eachother.

Try and ping your server system, What do you get?

Make sure your Workstation's Gateway is set to the IP address of the NIC in the server machine. IE: If the NIC in your server is 192.168.0.1, enter that as your gateway on the Workstation. Make sure that your software(Sygate, Winroute, etc) is set up for DHCP, and is configured properly. You have to define scopes, that is, tell the DHCP server what it's range of IP addresses that it can assign is(Like 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.10) Make sure subnet mask is set, and set correctly.

If you're using Win2k's Internet Sharing, I really have no idea how that works. I use Sygate. Hmm. I should see if I can get it working, since it's there. A 3rd party sharing program is probably just a waste of resources.

the W2K has ICS on and the DUN is shared.... the w98 machine is a admin... and is properly logged on(hence we can share files)

still we have no sharing....

Do you have IE on the Win 98 machine set to connect through the LAN rather than on a Dial Up connection?
