Hey all, I was wondering if somebody could tell me the average power consumption of a computer? Per hour or something like that would be helpful. TIA! :)

Go to my web page Digital Portfolios, and go to my machine blog ("Fullmetal Chocobo" under blogs). It has the specs, and the power consumption there.

A modern A64 CPU with one floppy, one DVD burner, 1GB RAM, and an average video card will pull approximately 180-200 watts.

I would put it higher than that esp. under load....but depends on how many hard drives....what is an "average" gfx card and such.

Average would probably be mainstream, or a Geforce 7600GS, Radeon 1600XT type of card. And yes, thats about the load power draw.

Did some research...and ya that's about right...I wouldn't have said much higher anyway

Hey, sweet, I can access my web server again at work... So here are the measurements of power usage on my machine, as measured with a Seasonic Power Angel.

3.73 amps
445 watts
0.03 kw
450 VA.

Not too bad for my machine. My power supplies are running at 40% capacity.

Here's a tool to get the guess work out of it, Power Minder
