Hi, I have a few desktop computers, a dhcp server, and a w2k3 server.

Whenever I join the domain on the desktop pc's and try to log into the server as an Admin it states that I have a incorrect password? Its odd because when I join the domain it promts me to enter a username/password, which it accepts.

I have also reseted the account of the pc's through the dhcp sever.

Any ideas of whats causing this?

You stated your on the desktop computer but your trying to login to the server? What are you using to try and login to the server? If you're trying to login to the desktop as a domain user, ensure the location is set to the domain and not the local computer.

Sorry my of knowledge in the networking environment is quite lacking. I apologizes ahead of time for my water down responses.

So I have three desktop pcs
One DHCP Server running 2K3 server
One Dell Power Edge running 2k3 server

I'm trying to test out a driver I made and and to see if I could get a digital signature through Microsoft. I need this environment setup to for the WHQL test.

So on the desktop pc when I join the domain (Dell Server) It will prompt me for a user: Administrator/ password: test. The user / password that I input is correct and the computer will restart. When it restarts I chose to login to the domain with drop down menu, and input my user/password that I entered previously. It will claim that the password is incorrect?

So on the desktop computer, at the login screen, it'll have boxes for username, password and logon to. What does it say in the logon to? Also, when you reset the test username, did you go into the active directory server, into active directory and reset the password there? Try logging directly into your AD server with that username and password and see if it logs in.

For one of the desktop pc's (Win7x64) It will have a box on the login screen to access that pc. I hit the switch user button and type in whqldtm (name of the domain) /administrator, then the password test.

When I retested the password, I access my DHCP machine directly and went to Active Directory Users and Computers. Right clicked the machine in the pool and click reset this account.

You need to log on with a User account. Computer accounts are not used for logging in.

What seepy said. You don't login with the computer account. The computer account gets added to AD when you join that computer to the domain, that's it. You don't need to do anything with the computer account. You login with the user account in the AD. AD is useful if you have many computers on a business LAN and makes logging in easier because you don't need to manage your user's on each individual computer. It's a central directory of usernames that you authenticate with.

Once you have the user account in your AD server, you can login with that account on any computer that you have added to the domain. Makes computer and network management much easier.
