3 years ago RC5 started, but I wonderd what the FASTEST computer was in that time ..
becouse, if I see how fast we go now (total project status) it's strange that we (actually you, or else I wouldn't ask this :)) did 3 years for 30% !

Was is a Pentium 200 mhz? or faster/slower ??

If my memory serves me right, the PII 233MHZ was announced just about 3 years ago. Some friends of mine bought one for Christmas 1997.

The real question might be, what were most of the computers working on RC5 at that time? I would guess that they were 386s, or possibly 486s.

Well, seing as how I had a P60 in 1995, I would think you had a lot of the P60-133 starting the project before it became real popular.

I believe that's about when I bought my Cyrix (6x86P150+@120MHz). It didn't start on RC5, but that's what it's running now. :)

According to More's(sp?) law, the fastest computer would have been around 250mhz and the average computer would be around half that.

This assumes that the fastest computer is 1ghz today (a little low) and the average computer is 500mhz today (probably a little high).

When I first started RC5 (Don't remember if it was RC5-64 or some other project) in november 1994, I used my brand new, top of the line, 486 DX2-66. This was about the fastest PC available at that time. The P60 was just released, but far too expensive to have as a desktop PC. I was very happy, when I assimilated my friend's 386-16. Those were the days ;)

Edit: My shift-key was stuck. No kidding!
