Computers are dumb

Not really, but VERY frustrating sometimes.

I always leave mine running, and I cam upstairs to surf for a few mins during lunch, and it was off. I tried the power button, no worky.

Everything else had power, so I knew it wasn't the power strip or a breaker.

I pulled out an extra PS, plugged it in, whamo, worked fine.

I plugged the old PS back in, with the new power cord, still good.

Plugged the old power cord back into the old PS, everything works fine.

ARGH!!! I once thought I wanted to build computers for people for a little extra money on the side, but after building and maintaining a few of my own, no way.

I would ask someone what was wrong with it, but I know from experience that it is about the same question as, "What is the meaning of life?" or "What do women want?"

Don't.. there's no money in it unless you want all your friends to think you're an asshole. I tried being nice once and I tried making money once.. Either way, you're this asshole who has plenty of time on your hands, doesn't deserve to get paid as much as random people they don't know, and is expected to do favors for every friend.. Oh.. also, you have an implied lifetime warranty for anything tech-related. Compensation is a smile or some cookies.

You have been warned. Build your own computer and leave selling them to the screwballs at Compaq.
