I have a question about SCSI performance and a warning as well. First off, NEVER BUY FROM ComputerHQ.com. I was so impressed that they had Soyo Dragon boards back on August 1st that I bought a bunch of stuff from them. After waiting an inexcusible 2 weeks to recieve items that weren't even on backorder, I finally recieved them last night... only to find out they shipped the WRONG components. They shipped a lower powered Athlon HSF than I had ordered (charging me full price too mind you) and the DVD drive they sent was not the 16x IDE Toshiba I ordered, but the 10x SCSI drive. Since ComputerHQ has been so incompetent I don't wish to deal with them ever again ESPECIALLY for item returns. Now, on the bright side, that's one hell of a deal on a SCSI drive, only paying $60. But now I am stuck with no way to install it without purchasing a controller. My question is about performance. All my devices are set as Master on the IDE channels, including my 8x HP CD Burner. The DVD drive was similarly going to get it's own IDE channel. So, would there be a performance increase to buy the SCSI controller and use this one SCSI device as compared to selling it, pocketing the extra cash and getting the originally intended 16x IDE DVD-Rom from a local reseller instead. It is just a DVD-Rom so it's not as crucial a component to have a SCSI interface, at least that's what I would assume. What's your opinion on what I should do?
