i recently bought stuff from newegg to build a new computer and when i put it all together it wont turn on.. here's the things i did to try to remedy the problem:
before i say what the problem is here are the specs...
Antec sx835 case (with 350 watt PSU)
Athlon XP 1600+
epox ep-8k3ae
samsung 256 PC2100 memory
I also made sure all the jumper settings on the motherboard were correct..
before i tried anything i took everything out and disconnected everything except for the motherboard and CPU/fan and heatsink/memory... i made sure the motherboard was also properly anchored to the case and no extra pegs were touching.
tried different power supply and it still wouldnt turn on
tried the power supply that came with the antec case in another computer and that computer turned on so i have issued out it being the power supply...
tried putting the motherboard (epox ep-8k3ae) in a different case and have the same problem...
when i push the power sometimes the fan will spin up for a fraction of a second before it powers off again... sometimes it does not...
i have seen this problem once before and found out it was an issue with the power supply but i have concluded it is not this time.. does anyone have any insight to this problem?? Could it be a bad CPU? (which is what I believe is the case)
thanks,
adam
