Computer won't turn on (sometimes)

My computer worked fine until someone tampered with the fuse switch and turned off the current to my computer. Afterwards, it wouldn't turn on again. The lights and everything would flash and power up a split second after pressing the power button, then nothing else. I could do this repeatedly given a second or two between each press with no luck - probably bad for the hardware anyway. So I tried replugging the two wires from the PS to the MOBO (4 pin and 16pin(?) wires) and it powered up fine several times after shutting it down. Then I brought the computer to another place to use, and it didn't power up until I replugged those two wires several times. I'm left guessing if the previous power outage damaged the PS, and if it's not sending enough juice for the initial power up sequence. I'm worried that it'll fail to boot completely once I move it back to my other place to use. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Please tell the BRAND NAME and MODEL NUMBER for

your power supply

and

your motherboard.

I doubt the physical electrical connections between the power supply & the mobo are the cause of your problem, as long as you're sure you have the connectors fully & firmly pushed on.

There are some well known incompatibilities between certain motherboards & psu's, so please post your info.
 
My motherboard is a BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 (AM2) and my power supply is an Antec SP-400.
Just as an update, I turned it off recently and it failed to start up again. This time I didn't reconnect anything, but switched the current switch on the back of the PS from off to on again, then it worked.
