My computer consistently wakes up from sleep mode after just seconds of enetering sleep whether put to sleep manually (by pressing the hardware button/menu item) or through Windows power settings.
I've disabled WOL and Intel Smart Connect in BIOS and Hibernate in Windows.
Tested both while logged in and logged out (on lock screen). IPv6 disabled in Network control panel
Tried switching off the wireless kb/mouse so they don't inadvertently end sleep - no difference.

This PC is designated as a HTPC (Windows Media Center DVR) so a full shutdown each time is not an option.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

thanks

the first thing i would look at is anti-virus and 3rd party disk defragmentators.

Malware also has a tendency to do this as well...

Have you looked at all the settings under the sleep mode you have selected within Windows?

As a test, I would also be curious if removing the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 would make any difference.

On my Win7 system, I found disabling Intel SmartConnect wasn't sufficient - I had to remove it altogether before my system would sleep.

From an elevated command prompt, run the following command:
powercfg –lastwake

This will tell you the system device that last woke the system from sleep.

OTOH, if you want to see a list of all devices which are enabled to wake the system, the following command (again run from an elevated command prompt) will give you the list:

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

You can also run a power efficiency test which can also provide helpful information in diagnosing sleep problems:

powercfg -energy

This will take about 60 seconds to run, and will create a HTML report at c:\Windows\System32\energy-report.html

Note: This file frequently will not open in a browser from its default location -- you may have to copy it somewhere else (like your desktop) via Windows Explorer before it will open.

I'm using the built-in Windows Defender for a/v and whatever comes with Windows for defrag (although I haven't run it)

The power settings are:
Display off after 10 min
Sleep after 30 min
Hard disk after 20 min
Hybrid sleep off
Hibernate never
Allow wake timers Enable
USB selective suspend enabled
When sharing media Allow computer to sleep

C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg -lastwake
Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 0

C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

You just going to have to use the process of elimination to find out who is waking the PC. I had a similar issue and it was due to the Samsung magician software for my ssd. I would suspect your IR receivers first.
