Dunno if this is the best forum for this but I got home from work today, went to turn on my computer and the fans and lights came on for a second but immediately died. I tried plugging it into a different outlet, switching on/off from the PSU... and got similar results every time.

I took it all apart and start putting together piece by piece and... mobo/CPU/fans/PSU all worked fine.... Once I got to the video card, it was a no-go. Nothing happened.

The system was stable for the past year and a half. Is this a sure-fire sign of a dead video card?

Well, it's hard to say.

I would say swap out the video card with a known working card. Buy a cheap one if you have to. Return it, or keep it around for testing purposes in the future. This is the only way to know for sure.

Maybe your PSU has met its maker, and the added strain from your video card overloads it.

Who knows :)

Hmm. Good point. Now I just gotta find a dirt cheap card at a place with a good exchange policy. :-X

Most of the big box stores aka best buy, circuit city etc have pretty liberal return policies on hardware.

Trust me ;)
