Hi, for the longest time my dad's computer has had this little problem. It just wont start posting at all. When he turns the computer on i hear the fans, but i hear no activity from the hdd, and no visuals on the monitor. Usualy after a couple tries it starts to actualy post, but tonight it seems to have just stoped running ( no matter how many times we cant get it to work. All i hear is the fans and nothing else.). Im thinking its the powersupply, but can it be something else like the power strip? The case was a generic case with a generic 230-250 PS (forget wich it was) the system is a cel 366 socket on Abit BH6 if that helps. So far my conclusion is the PS, no power to mb but fans just doesnt seem right though. Thanks.

EDIT: Just looking at the powersupply it might actualy be lesser, more like 115, 130 or something around there.

I think the best thing to start with is to try to install another Power Supply. Or you could try taking out all cards one at a time and trying to turn the computer on. You gotta try to isolate the problem.

I'm sure you can get a nice (used) 235W power supply from somewhere. I just sold mine for 3 bucks on Ebay.

Hope that helps

Thanks, i just tried taking all the cards out except the v/c and still did it, so i tried another v/c from my system and still didnt work. Since these were agp i thought maybe the slot might have gone bad. So i went and got a pci card that was laying around and tried it. It didnt help. So with that i find it cant be a card, but it probably is the PS or could it actualy be the MB? I hope its the PS cause if the MB is shot then i dont think he realy wants to redo his system again. So i guess the next step is get a new PS.
