:|OK, I.ve been running this computer for about a year now. Celeron 450, Western Digital 30.7, 128Mb PC100, Shuttle HOT-675 :)disgust:) 98SE, cd-rom, cd-r, LS-120, CL TNT II Ultra. While I was gone my wife said that there was a storm one night and the next morning the comp was on. She said it was not on when she went to bed. When she tried to perform a standard shut-down it would not do so. Here's what I have found....when I perform shut-down it shuts down normally and then after 10 seconds it turns back on by itself. It doesn't boot up though, it just turns on the fans and cd-roms and just sits there. If I hit the power switch it boots up. While on it operates normally except it shows that there is no A drive and the A drive will not opperate. I slaved in a known good power supply and really got weird. With that the HDD will spin up but then do nothing else...I get a no system disk found error? All voltages check good with a meter. So, to make a long story longer, do you guys think my mobo took a hit during the storm? (no big loss) Any insight would be greatly appreciated.....Thanks
Mike S.

definetly a mobo prob, if you swapped the power supply then its got to be the mobo. by anychance have you check the power saving profile, maving something got reset or something, its a really slim possibility of that being a prob but hey it wont hurt to check.

well or its a mobo prob opr more likey its a power suply prob. it might be destoyed by the storm, and thats why it starts without booting, its just gives the powe r not the signal to boot. try changing the power supply
