Computer Won't Shut Down

I'm having a problem here at work with a computer that won't shut down. It's got a Tyan motherboard with a socket PIII and a slot for a Pentium III. I've tested the PSU and it works fine as does another PSU in the system (still won't shutdown). The system's got Windows 98 and when it gets to the Windows is shutting down screen, the fan's don't stop running and I don't hear the HD stop. The computer just restarts itself.

Any ideas?

Search for shutdown patch on microsoft web site.

However, I can tell you I was afraid of WinXP for a long time and I finally installed it on my HP 6740c and found I can finally shut down my machine. My old HP refused to shut down even after installing the shutdown patch.

It has a 667 MHz Celeron, 192 MB RAM and a Geforce2 MX200 video card. It works well with XP Pro SP1 (eDonkey2000 copy with Volume License Key)
