I had the same problem recently. A few days ago I plugged in my iPod, it said there is a problem with your iPod, need to restore. So I restored it and transfered all 30GB of my music back over. Later on, I went to plug it in again and nothing happened. I ended up reinstalling iTunes (the latest version off the apple website) and now everything is fine.

I already reinstalled the latest version and it's still doing it. What if I uninstall itunes and reinstall it? Will that do anything?

Uninstall iTunes. Not sure where the heck you are looking, but iTunes is in my Add/Remove. Deleting the 'Program Files' directory is never a good idea.

After uninstalling, plug the iPod in and see if it pops up as a drive. You should be able to browse it. Then reininstall iTunes.
