I installed a seagate 1TB barracuda yesterday, and the OS (win7) won't recognize the drive. It's recognized in the bios (as the primary master nonetheless) but not when I go to the computer tab on the start menu.

So I fired up the disk utility that came with it (acronis) and tried to add it that way. The disk shows up in the menu, but I can't select it, only my primary drive (150G raptor) and removable usb drive. Any idea on how to get the computer to see the drive? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried looking at the built in disk management in Windows 7? You can get to it by right clicking My Computer -> Manage -> Storage -> Disk Management

Does disk management see the disk?

If you do see the disk format it. Hopefully you'll be able to see it in my computer after it's formatted.

I agree. Most computers will not see the new hard drive until it is formatted and marked as an active drive.
