Computer won't Recognize IDE to SATA Hard Drive

Hi, I recently put together a fairly new system. I have the Asus P5KC motherboard and it has 1 IDE port and 4 SATA ports.

I have 2 SATA hard drives connected to 2 SATA ports and the DVD Burner is connected to the IDE .

Here's the problem, I also have 1 IDE hard drive that I want to connect. So I connected that IDE to SATA converter into the hard drive and i've tried putting the SATA cable into the each of the available SATA ports on the motherboard, but the system won't recognize it.

I'm sure it has to do with using the converter, but how can I get this to work so that the drive is recognized?

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. The Bios doesn't recognize the drive either. If you need more info I can provide it.

Thanks for any help and happy new year!

natlus,

I tried one of those converters and had the same problem... Do what WoodButcher suggests, just put the IDE HDD on the IDE cable's end connector and set its jumper at Master, with the DVD burner on the second connector with its jumper set to Slave. Should work OK that way.
