Computer won't power up

I just finished putting together a system and after a few initial problems I had it working fine.

Asus P5B Deluxe
E6400
2G Corsair DDR2 800 RAM
Antec Truepower 550W

are the core components.

At stock speeds, the system ran at 33C idle and ~40C under load.

I decided to overclock as I'd seen here in the forums, and bumped up the FSB to 400.

The system posted fine and I went into the hardware monitor to see the temperatures.

The CPU was idling at 47C, but checking inside the case, the Northbridge chipset was very very hot to the touch and the system shutdown shortly thereafter.

Now, when I try to boot the computer, I get power for a fraction of a second (fans start to turn, etc.) and then it dies. Subsequently pressing the power button does nothing until I turn the power supply off and on.

Have I fried something on the motherboard or perhaps the PS?

Any suggestions on what to look for or test would be appreciated.

First thing to do is reset it to stock settings using the jumpers. With thermal protection you shouldn't be able to fry the parts that way (in theory).

I agree with previous poster. You need to read your manual on how to "clear your CMOS", which resets your bios to its default settings.
