I have an Asus A7V133 motherboard based computer which worked fine till two days ago and now does not power on. The standby led on the motherboard lights up but I am unable to start the system
I have checked the power supply and it seems to works fine.
I have never overclocked this board.
I cant seem to figure out whats wrong, any help will be appreciated.

Right - the usual 3 culprits need to be checked (as possible):

* CPU.
* Memory.
* GFX-card.

I assume you can at least test the memory & the GFX-card in another system (since you check the PSU somehow).

Testing the CPU & the mobo might get a bit tricky.

Usually, a mobo should complain (in some form or other - LEDs, beep-code) if you pull the memory & try to boot it. If this happens - it's usually a good indicator that the CPU & board are still up & running.

Right - this should give you a few things to do - hope this helps :).

BTW - the board doesn't give you ANY indications? No beep-codes, LEDs o anything?

Ive checked all parts except for the Motherboard and the CPU
The frustrating part is that I get no audible beeps or any other indication that something is wrong
I was using it fine till I shut it down and later tried to restart (It just wont respond) I even checked the Power On switch on the Case! but its fine.
Could my CPU be dead!!! (should'nt the Motherboard beep or give some indication if thats the case)

Ok now i've got my system working again.
A friend suggested I press the insert key while powering on the system and Lo & Behold the system came to life if only once. After I tried to reboot to make sure everything was all right only the fans came on and the system gave out one long and three short beeps (Indicating a video error). So I removed my video card and reseated it into the AGP slot, tried to reboot but no success (the fans were spinning though). Hmm.. I now removed all cards from my machine except for the video & removed all cooling fans except for the cpu & chipset coolers. Restarted and voila! the system is up and running except for the Sound card which refuses to be recognised in Windows. Adding the remaining two fans causes the system to not post (I suspect the culprit is the 250 Watt power supply which has a max load of 125Watt when both 5V and 3.3v are used)

Any suggestions how to get my sound card working again, also is my power supply damaged due to its diminished capability now (since its now not able to support the fans it did earlier):D

the a7v133 package reads : use a psu that provides at least 20A on the 5V and at least 10mA on the 5V VSB, so you should check your PSU to see if it qualifies.

Before trying anything else, you should get at least a 300W power supply. Seems the rest of your rig is ready to roll. Then try the Sound card again.

125W when both 5V and 3.3V are used?

Right - let's point this out:

* Memory runs on 3.3V
* PCI runs on either 5V or 3.3V
* AGP runs on either 3.3V or 1.5V

So. I'd say it's pretty likely you have a problem here :D.

Hope the new PSU helps you out. Don't get a "cheapo" PSU though ... as with most things, you get what you pay for.

Hope this helps :).

The problem with my system not starting was very aggressive memory settings (I've solved that now)
Also got my sound card working (it did not like the PCI slot it was in)

Now i've got a new problem, when I start my computer and it detects my drives it goes straight to the BIOS and displays this messege

"Messege conformation. The system intruded, chassis opened or tampered before. Please check the system" OK

normally one just has to click OK save the settings and reboot, but when I do that it sends me straight back to the BIOS. I have checked and made sure the chassis intrusion pins are jumpered
The only way I can get to Windows is if I remove the battery for some time to clear the CMOS & then restart the system with default settings.

Here are the specs for my Power Supply
Enlight EN-8254942
Model : HPC-250-101 Rev:C
S/N: 00499196

AC Input : 115v/230v 6/3A
Frequency 60/50Hz (47Hz - 63Hz)
Max Load : 250Watts

---------------------------------

+3.3v 14A
+5v 25A
+12v 10A

-5v 0.5A
-12v 0.5A

+5VSB 1A

---------------------------------
The max load cant be over 125Watts when both DC +5v and +3.3v are used
