Computer won't power up but runs fine.

I know...how can it run if it won't power up. It won't power up by using the power switch alone. I don't even get a flash of light from the power light. Maybe you can help me by looking at my workaround that lets me start up:

When I power down I use the soft shut down (Windows "Shutdown"). Then when it is completely off I turn off the P/S, then hit the "on" switch which will discharge the capacitors on my board. Now for start up be patient with what I'm about to say...I've tried multiple combinations and this is the only one that works. When time to start up again, I turn on the PS and WAIT until I see the green light for my ethernet connection. Sometimes it takes longer than other times to illuminate. This light is at the back of my PC where the ethernet cable plugs in. Once it's on I can hit the power switch and it will start up fine. I've had no problems with it running once started...it does great. Here is one wrinkle though. I've found that I have to let it rest for at least a couple of hours in shutdown mode for this trick to work.

So what do you think? Power Supply problem?

Might want to start with the basics before guessing... I had the same issue you describe once but only with my keyboard not working lol... everything would work but the keyboard untill i powered down and unpluged the PSU, however never had issue after replacing keyboard with a different one.

I'd start by removing everything not neccessary to boot including HDD, just get to post.. and see if you can shut down and restart, if so add things 1 by one back to the system testing each time... If no-go from the start, try bypassing your power switch, start it by jumping the MoBo power pins... If still not working, remove PSU from motherboard (can leave it connected to periferals/accessories for a load) and Jumper its Startup pins(Green/Black I believe Google2Double Check) to see if it starts seperate from MoBo only. If so i think you found your prob

EDIT: Oh yeah, this goes assuming you dont already have a spare PSU to test with... That would be the First and Easyest thing 😉
