So, I have an ASUS A7V (straight up) w/ 900 Mhz T-Bird, 256 Pc133, Network, Geforce, Sblive, IBM HDD.
Anyway, so I powered down my computer (rarity), and now it won't come back on. I dunno if it got too hot or what.

I've done a search for this issue. I don't think it's the power supply 'cause I shorted the green & black wires and it did turn on. But is it supposed to stay on if I take the wire out? ('cause it doesn't)

And I don't think it's the power switch (which I broke by now anyway ). Is it possible to turn the computer on by shorting the jumpers for the power switch directly on the mobo? ('cause I tried that and that didn't work either) I took the RAM out, reset the cmos jumper, unplugged everything and removed everything but the CPU.

That green indicator light does come on when I plug the PS into the mobo, and the plug into the PS; but still not 'powering on'.

Any ideas??? I desperately don't wanna have to buy a new mobo. Do you think my CPU will be okay? I never overclocked it or ran it beyond specs at anytime.

Help please! :(

On a side note: Good thing I spent the $150 for an old PII 233 today (to start learning linux) or I wouldn't be able to post eh?

looks to be the power supply. try taking out the p2 PS and using that to see. apparently, the light IS on, so there is power. you can directly jumper the motherboard by using a screwdriver between the PWRSTCH JMPR. =) looking like 99% PS.

That has happened to me a few times and I remember reading a few threads about it here. Try unplugging the PS from the motherboard and then plugging it back in. As I recall that worked for a few people.

This happend to me on one i built, if the light on the mother board small green LED is on there isn't enough voltage from the PSU and you will ned to replace it or thats what i did anyway.

i have a similar problem, but with an antec psu and epox 8k7a. this only happens if my computer has not been turned on for a long time (4+ hrs). if i unplug the atx power connector and then plug it back in, it works. very weird. i'm not sure if my problem is due to the power supply or motherboard. still trying to troubleshoot this thing.
