Computer won't power on

I have computer that was given to me by a friend. It is a Gateway Performance Series, it has a P3 733 in it so it isnt terribly old. It powered on several times when I was at my parents. I brought it back to Baton Rouge with me and now when I go to power up just an orange light in the front comes on. I have reseated the power cables inside the case and I have swapped power cables and tried different plugs. Any expirences with Gateway towers?

Start swapping out other components Take everything out and try just the bare essentials- motherboard, cpu, video, memory. If it still doesn't work, try another memory stick. If still no luck, a different video card. That's odd though, it worked before, but not now. Happens to me all the time, unfortunately. Have fun troubleshooting!
Oh, I almost forgot, try another PSU somewhere down the line.

Try reseating your ram, and video card as well. You will also want to check the CPU is seated properly as well (not sure if it is a slot 1 or socket). Lots of things can work lose during a move.

That would be your best bet.

I have performed the PSU test where you take a paper clip and connnect the green and a black wire, and nothing powers on, I assume the PSU is dead. There is no switch or anything in the back to turn on or off the PSU manually. The only other PSU around here is th eone in the computer I am using right now. PErhaps when I have more time I will swap it out and see if it all powers ups.
