so, I'm at my wit's end and I thought maybe AT could provide some guidance.
last Saturday, I installed a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM in my desktop. it worked fine for about a day, but then Sunday night, it crashed out of the blue and wouldn't power on (the case fans would spin up for a second, and then immediately spin back down. no power was reaching the motherboard)
to confirm that my existing PSU and new RAM were OK, I put my old motherboard back in with the new RAM and it booted up fine.
not being able to test the CPU, I decided to RMA the motherboard first. the new motherboard arrived today, and after an uneventful install, lo and behold it won't post.
it's not exhibiting the same behavior as before -- all fans in the case and on the board are spinning continuously and the system isn't power cycling, but I'm not getting any video on my monitors and there are no lights on my keyboard mouse.
any clue what I could be looking at? should I RMA the CPU? I've already combed through the motherboard ensuring that all power cables are securely plugged in and I tried removing all non-essential components (video card, wireless nic), but no change.
I've got a 1300W PSU that's not even a year old, so I assume it should be fine for a stock Intel 1150 cpu and a single video card.
I'm already dreading the thought of having to remove my motherboard from the case for like the 7th time this week :'(
