Hi everyone. My friend has some trouble with his computer, and we would appreciate some help. He moved his computer to another dormitory recently, and now it won't post.

1.As soon as we plug the power into the case (with the switch set to I), the computer turns on. From this point on, the reset and power buttons don't respond.

2.The computer does not output a video signal.

3.The lights on the optical drives turn on and remain lit, and we can't eject the drives.

4.All the fans inside the case are on, and the motherboard LED indicator is green.

We are not idiots (checked the everything is plugged in correctly), and we feel that this might be a power supply issue. We appreciate your input.

is it possible that in the move the 'on' button was smashed in and is in the always on position. its worth a check at least.

That's true, the best way to verify the power button is to remove the front panel connector and quickly jumper the PWR pins with a conductor.
