Hey,
Today I put together my new build but it will not post at this point.
When I turn on the computer, the fans will run at full speed continuously and there is no display/post. The LED on the motherboard reads "FF", which according to the manual means "Boot attempt Int 19h". Note that it doesn't go through any kind of cycle, it reads "FF" from the start.
Here are my specifications:
CPU-AMD Phenom 9500
Mobo-Abit AX78 AM2+ 770 chipset
Mem-4GB (2GBx2) OCZ DDR2-800
HDD-Maxtor 200GB IDE
PSU- Corsair HX520
As for troubleshooting components, the only things that I don't know work for sure are the CPU and the motherboard. Everything else has come from my last build and I've verified to work fine.
The main thing that I am thinking it could be is incorrect CPU placement. When I was installing the CPU, I installed it correctly (arrow on CPU corresponding to arrow on mobo) and it went in easily just as it should. But even when I lowered the lever, looking at it from the side it appeared like the pins farthest from the arrow were not completely in the mobo. I have no idea if this is just how it is or not; it didn't look right, but I don't think I have ever looked closely at the side of a CPU when installing it before. Could this be the problem?
Thanks for any help.
