Computer won't fire up.

Turned on the PC this morning and nothing happened. Or to be more precise, for a fraction of a second the fans kicked in and then died. A light on the motherboard (next to the power supply connection to the MB) then stays on and does not go out (even if I hit the power button again) unless I remove the power lead. I have tried a few times but the same thing always happens. Any tips much appreciated.
PC is 1 year old and has been trouble free in that time.
Gigabyte GA7VAXPUltra motherboard
MSI Ti 4200 8x graphics card
80GB Maxtor HD
1x 512 MB Kingston memory
350w PS

It was normal for the light to be on when the PC was on. I just mentioned it as the light is located next to the power supply connection to MB and may suggest that power supply is ok?

OK then the mobo light is basically just telling you the motherboard has power. Try clearing CMOS. Sounds like you may have a messed up BIOS setting.

Unplug your motherboard.
Find the CMOS jumper pins on you motherboard.
Take out the motherboard battery
Move the CMOS pin jumper from its current position to the only other possible position, leave it for 20 sec
put CMOS jumper back to original position and reinstall your battery
CMOS has been cleared.

If clearing the CMOS doesn't work, try re-seating your cards, cables and RAM firmly. If it still won't run, try another power supply. If you have to buy a power supply, make sure it's a good-quality brand name such as Fortron, Enermax, Antec, Sparkle Power or PC Power & Cooling.

Just managed to fix the PC. It was quite simple in the end. I removed the PSU and blew it out with an air can. There was some serious dust in there. Anyway, this did the trick. Everything's fine now. Thanks for all your help and tips. Should I think about replacing the unit or forget about it now that everything is ok?
