Computer won't boot.

The last couple of days my computer would all the sudden freeze, I thought it was a ram problem because I was almost always running two or more programs, well today I left it on for like two hours when I come back I have a blank screen, so I hit the power button and attempt a reboot nothing the secound time I try it I get the dell picture but the loading bar below doesn't move, I tried again and get nothing, I've reseated all the hardware except the cpus.

I also removed the ram thinking this would give me some beep codes, but I recieved none.

The computer is as follows:

Dell Precision 530
Dual Xeon 1.7 GHz CPUs
256 RDRAM (RAMBUS)

I can't think of anything else that you would nee to know about the system to help me but don't hesitate to ask.

Also check to make sure nothing blown like a capacitator or something in that nature.

I think you might be correct about the overheating, I was just able to boot on it after letting it sit unpluged for about an hour.

How can I fix this?

I have two fans for the two prossessers + one fan in the front.

The prosessor fans are not connected to the prossessor, but rather mounted on the box with this green dell tunnel thing to the prossessor

Try these.

1) Replace botherboard battery.

2) Open it up and clear the dust out, specifically from the processor heatsink and power supply. Grab some compressed air and go for it.

Use a vacuum to suck up stray dust if you need to.

If you separate the processor from the heatsink, be sure to clean the old thermal grease/paste/pad and put some new slime on there.

3) Reseat ram AGAIN. You never know. My dad worked on a machine for a month, I came over and found that his mushkin heatspreader was binding on a mb capacitor and the ram wasn't seating.

4) Take all the components apart and off the motherboard and replace only the core parts...mb, processor, heatsink/fan, hd, ram, video (if mb doesn't have onboard). Only plug in power, keyboard, mouse and video.

OK I'm having the same problem and I don't think it's overheating.

I've taken all teh not vital parts off the computer and still I don't get even get into the bios. all that happens is teh fans start spinning.

Ok I think I might know what my problem is, Overheating I downloaded a toolk called speed fan.

After my computer froze as mentioned above I was able to reboot and found I had a remote temp of 56C which is really hot, as average is 30-34.

56c is hot but it still should boot. And is runnable at that temperature.

it works fine when I spray canned air on it. =)
