I had an issue a couple days ago where when went to browse a drive, windows hung on the screen that displays all the drives. I restarted explorer, and the window would hang every time I tried to view the drives.

When I restarted, the machine wouldn't boot with one of the storage drives installed. It would just hang on "starting windows". I took the drive out and it booted fine. I tried connecting it to another machine and got the same issue. Crystal Disk Info even froze when trying to get smart data.

I then tried to connect it to my mac, and drive is reading fine. I am copying everything off of it now just in case.

Anyone seen this before? Is this drive just going bad? It's a WD 1TB green power.

thanks.

Well it's pretty obvious that drive is going bad. Western Digital has a hard drive test utility as a free download on their website. Test it out.
