It's an EPoX 4GEA+ and a 7in1 Lian-LI reader. I tried hooking up the little cables labled ground, VCC, USB+ and USB- per the EPoX user guide instructions but it causes the system not to boot. The best part is that on the board it doesn't actually label pin 1 or 10, and that in the manual it has them positioned vertical as opposed to horizontal on the board. To make things more diff the board has 2 extra pins for more ground cables so I don't know if it matter which GND I plug the GND cable into. Regardless, I tried it as if it were flipped either way and didn't work either time. Never gets past post, just hangs there. This annoys me. Please help.

I had a similar problem. Can you plug in the card reader after the computer boots and get it working? Turns out I had a conflict between my network switch and my card reader! Not sure how that is possible, but it was repeatable; computer would not boot if they were both plugged in. Upgraded to winxp solved the problem...

It's an internal reader and I don't really want to plug it into the USB3 header pins while the computer is on...

not really sure if this will work, but try disabling that usb header in the device manager. It may or not be there. If you can, do that, then hook up the reader, then re-enable it once the computer is back on. As for the ground, it shouldn't matter, but use the one next to the other connectors so they are all next to each other, that is how mine is hooked up. Good luck! Also, try disabling it in the bios, then re-enabling the usb port.
