Hi guys, I have a boot problem on a 4 or so year old computer which has a 1 year old mobo, proc, and ram. I was wondering if you could help me point out which parts are most suspect, or any possible solutions. I'll be as detailed in the description as possible, please ask if any additional info needed. Thanks!
Problem
Background
System
So I'm thinking mobo for sure for this problem, since power/reset button don't respond, there are no beeps, yet the fans start spinning. Any other possibilities you see? Thanks!
Problem
- When off, if the power button is pressed, the power supply turns on and all fans start spinning, but there is no beep.
- The hard drive shows no sign of activity, and nothing appears on the monitor.
- In this state, if the power button is held for 10 seconds, nothing happens; the power supply stays on.
- When the reset button is pressed, absolutely nothing happens either.
- When I take out all the system components and leave only the mobo, proc, and power supply, there is no difference; same problem exists.
Background
- This happened very suddenly. Earlier today I was using the computer just fine.
- I had 1 unexplained crash lately, but it booted up fine from that.
- I added a new video card about two weeks ago, but it's been working fine for the last while, and I tested it in another computer where it works.
System
- Asus P5P800SE
- Pentium D 805
- Antec TruPower 430w
- Apollo Geforce 6800 Video Card (AGP)
- 2GB DDR400 PC3200 ram
- SATA HDD
So I'm thinking mobo for sure for this problem, since power/reset button don't respond, there are no beeps, yet the fans start spinning. Any other possibilities you see? Thanks!
