The other day, my computer suddenly stopped booting. I have an Asus P5Q Pro mobo, running AMI BIOS. When I power the box on, everything fires up (fans, disks, peripherals), but I get no video. I hooked up a case speaker, and the BIOS error code is a single beep ~5 seconds after powerup, and then another single beep ~10 seconds after the first.
The AMI BIOS apparently uses 2 beeps to indicate a memory parity error in the first 64k, but I would think those 2 beeps would be closer together.
If I remove my sticks of memory, I get the standard memory code (1 short, 3 long). Trying single sticks in either primary bank has no effect on the original condition.
I popped the CMOS battery, which seems to have had no effect.
Any ideas?
