Computer wont boot after using Partiion & FIXMBR

The issue is that my Hard drive was getting low on space in the Windows partition. The hard drive is 400 GB. My C: drive was 80GB and the D: partition was 320GB. The problem is though that I decided to reduce the extra space on on the non primary ( D: drive) from 320 to 300GB and to change my primary (C: windows) drive to 100GB.
The problem is that When I used powerquest and rebooted my computer would not boot back up. I Went to the recovery console and did
FIXBOOT C
Did not boot up
Performed:

FixMBR
Nothing

Checked with the Windows CD and now the C: Drive is now D: drive and now the D: Drive of 80GB shows the extra 20GB however it says 100GB free not 80GB Used.....

In essence its possible I fucked my hard drive C: Primary with no backup. So what can I do to get it up.

Edit: I feel FIXMBR erased the Master boot record which is making it seem like there is nothing on the drive. If I can somehow get the FIXMBR to be undone I can theoretically get it up and running

Fixmbr does not erase data- it will write a new boot record, I think your partition software corrupted the MFT. You can recover the lost parition using tools like Active Partition Recovery or Stellar Phoenix (PM me).

I tried installing windows on a secondary hard drive and I booted into windows and used Testdisk. It saw the old drive and even the files... However, I had to reboot now I am stuck on the connected drive with " A disk read error occurred Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE.

Any ideas?

boot from secondary disc and convert your main disc partition to NTFS...and try to boot from it.

Command line parameters;

CONVERT [driveletter] /FS:NTFS

Update:

Also try changing HDD boot order in Bios, make sure IDE/Sata connector is plugged in properly.

Use Original XP disc without SP and try Fixmbr and Fixboot.

Sometimes changing IDE/Sata cable works...

Well,
I somehow with testdisk got the drives to read. The issue is that I can only get in thru Safe mode and when I run testdisk or partition info from powerquest it says my drive has a geometry issue.

Testdisk says:
run test disk and both drives have the error. "Warning: Incorrect number of heads/cylinder 16 (NTFS) !=255 (HD)".

I am running Seatools for Dos from Seagate on the drive in advanced mode since nothing was found in basic mode. What can I use to fix the geometry on the drive?

Formatting makes absolutely no sense. Partition Magic corrupted the MFT it seems. I should not have to format two drives. Just from Partition Magic not resizing them correctly

So this is the status.
Testidisk is remarkable, I used it to rebuild the partition. I did not edit anything as in overwriting anything.

The issue as it stands now is that windows has corrupted files. I do not think this is so, due to how Testdisk is reporting still
"run test disk and both drives have the error. "Warning: Incorrect number of heads/cylinder 16 (NTFS) !=255 (HD)".

I have run Seagate Seatools for approximately 6 hours in checking both drives for errors. IT passed, I ran CHKDSK /P /R No problems

I loaded up windows in SAfe Mode ( Worked Hurray!), Problem is that when I ran partition magic PTinfo showed errors on the heads. What program can I use to fix this?

Have you tried doing a simple repair install using the Windows CD? Before going any further, definitely back up your data.

Doesn't Partition Magic allow you to make recovery boot disks which may allow a repair?

I figure I would respond in case anyone looks back.
End result:
-Used TestDisk to fix the partition tabels
-Got access to drives but Windows was acting Hairy.
-Backed up information
- Deleted partition tables and data off disk
- Used Testdisk and Knoppix to reformat the drive and re-assign Parition Tables manually
- Used Norton Ghost to load an image from 8 months ago.
- Spend 8 hours re installing and loading the essentials to the OS
