Did you ever try to change the MTU size in widows as per Lif_Andi's link? Your problem does sound like MTU issue as per Tack Hossil's post on

that or try a comcast certified modem that you can purchase at a local retail store and use your netgear as a router and return the modem if it doesn't work. If you purchase a modem you can also stop paying comcast to rent their router.

The netgear has its MTU set at 1500, and wifi had been working fine for years. The comcast rep told me their MTU is "fixed", maybe they have to change it themselves.

You can not because it is still Double Nat and the Netgear blocks 10.0.0.x to connect locally to 10.0.1.x

If you want to have one cohesive Network the Netgear should be configured like this.

Your devices are not using a routing protocol. They route statically. Change the MTU on your computer or set the Netgear to bridge mode.

I'd first like to take this one step at a time. I.e., connect the the two router with a cable first. Then if both networks can see each other, I'll proceed to setting up the NR as a WAP. I have a CCNA certificate

The phone line drops, I stay on the line for 5 minutes, assuming he's resetting my cable modem/router (I use their "phone" service as well).

I go ahead and connect the netgear router to Ethernet port 1 of the comcast router, and wireless computer (PC_02) is able to connect to the WORLD WIDE WEB

I'm confused, why did you not stay in bridge mode at that point?

I'd rather have 3 extra ethernet ports. And maybe in due time, I'll get a replacement Wifi card that's fully compatible with the comcast router.
