Hi Everyone,

I am currently working on a Lan Party Sli-DR, athlon 64 x2 proc and antec true power 550 PSU. I just finished a complete reset due to a fan install that required me to turn over the mobo. I now have the computer back together and can get it to boot into windows with no problems.

My issues is that the computer will not shut down correctly. Whether I use the power button on the case or "shut down" in Windows the computer does not power down completely. Right now the only thing I see happening is that the video card seems to power down. I see the fan on the video card stop spinning and the screen goes black.

Once this happens none the power button on the front does nothing and I have to kill the power on the back of the PSU. I have tried Resetting the power button connections to the mobo.

Thank You All,

Brent

The front power button usually has to be depressed for 5 or more seconds - i.e., you must hold it it. But, you should not have to do that. What OS are you running?

If you're using a Windows OS, you can change the actions of the power button and "shut off" options. Your system may be set to "sleep" or "hibernate" on shut down instead of completely shutting off.

Hi,
Thanks for your responses. I have tried holding the power button down even while the system is booting up before windows. I have also actually selected shut down from the windows start menu and it still just shuts off the video card. I am using windows 7 and the setting for the power button is set to "shut down". On another note restarting both through the windows start menu and with the button on my case seems to work.
