I have an HP a747c

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/gene...=c00249433&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

I would like to upgrade it a bit.

This is whant I would like to do.

My buddie is giving me a nice big case http://www.xoxide.com/thxaiiiv1.html
and a 37 GB raptor hard drive. The case has a 450 W power supply.

What I am planing on doing is getting a new mother bord, and a set of nice ram. So i can over clock my Pentium 4 2.8 HT.

I never over clocked before, but I think I can do it, because i am not totally new to computers.

I need a few guides and tips.

What is the best mother bord, and RAM that I would need to get the best performance out of this proccecor.

Dont worrie about the video card, im just going to get a 7800 GT PCI E, for $270 at newegg.com
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130256

I need suggestions on mobo, RAM.
And tips on overclocking, and also a good heatsink for my cpu, that would support over clocking...

Dont worrie about price, but make it a good deal because the next pc i am going to build is going to be from scratch, and most likely an AMD based. Basicly i am trying to squezz the best performance out of the current CPU.

Hmm. You might want to see if someone's hacked the BIOS for that board. If so, you can just overclock without any hardware upgrades. If you *do* choose to get a new board, you might as well go AMD right now. You can probably fetch $300 on Ebay for the CPU/RAM/mobo/case/PSU. That'll get you a nice Epox EP-9NPAJ, Opteron 144 and 1 to 2 GB PC3200, depending on your Ebay profits.

If you insist on keeping your CPU, keep your RAM and heatsink/fan as well. Both should be sufficient to get most everything you can out of a 520. You might, however, want to pick up some thermal paste. It's good to have when you re-seat CPUs.
