Hey Guys, I'm looking to do some upgrading to my PC. Right now I'm using an ASUS A8N SLI mobo, AMD 64 2.0g CPU, 7800GT, and 1g of some no named company RAM.

Basically I'm playing Gears of War on my PC right now and have everything on Medium. Not complaining about graphics, but I do get some slow downs if things get busy in the game.

Would an upgrade to 2g of RAM give me a noticeable increase in performance for GoW and possibly Crysis if i choose to unleash that beast on my low-mid range rig? If it's somewhat pointless to just get the RAM I might splurge on a CPU and Mobo if I can get a good deal since the holidays are coming up.

Any help is appreciated,
MoPHo

I?m not sure what prices on DDR ram look like these days, but unless you get up to 2GB with less than $50, I would wait for holiday sales and get a new cpu/mobo/ram/gpu. The amount of crazy deals this holiday season is going to be boundless!

CPU: Q6600 or any C2D Conroe after pre-peryn price cuts
Mobo: Any P35, X38, or even a 680i/650i
RAM: Right now you can get 2GB of DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 ram for less than $99, or even a 4GB kit for as low as $144
GPU: 8800GT is still a steal even after the price gouging. Once it comes back into stock and the price deflates a little back to MSRP, it?s a godsend.

Estimated price: ~$775.00
Estimated performance gain: Priceless!

hmm sounds like a plan. will definitely be taking this into consideration. I was looking @ DDR and it's only around 100 bucks but that DDR2 does sound like a steal...maybe just save off on the GPU but thanks man! =)
