Well, I've had my fill with my AMD Athlon XP2100+. AMD is a nice CPU, but it's not for me. I'm going to overhaul my current PC into an Intel machine. There are a few things that I know I will be getting, but others I have questions on. If you would like to know what I currently have just check my sig. Also I will be selling the parts I upgrade.

Upgrades - Please help me with these upgrades.

350W Power Supply
GeForce4 4600 Video Card

Yeah, you'll find the "look and feel" of Intel CPUs is far superior to the AMD models.

Just curious why you're going intel when you have more than enough power in your AMD setup (the 2100+ isn't exactly a slow chip or anything) to do whatever you're going to want to do?

You either have way too much money, or not enough sense to do some research and make sure you actually want to purchase somthing before you actualy do.

I gree. you don't even have scsi or anything such as that in your machines. No sense in wasting money on a CPU if you are so close to it.

2.4GHZ is overpriced. I'd suggest either the 2.26GHZ w/533 or 1.8 w/400...

get an Enermax 431W power supply. high quality and only 83 bucks at newegg...
the Gainward Golden Sample 4600 seems to be the best one especially once overclocked. Their software bundle is nice too...

gf4200isdabest, thanks for the info.

Everybody else, if you're going to flame this thread keep it to yourself. I'm not trying to start an AMD vs Intel war. If you got an AMD and like it, then keep it. I don't want the AMD anymore and I'm getting a Intel chip. I have the money to spend so don't worry about if I'm burning money for nothing. It's not like I'm going to give the AMD away or anything, I'm going to sell it. Anyway as you see in the quote below, I'm only asking advice on the Power Supply, and Video Card. I don't care what you think about the rest. I use a Intel P4 1.8GHz at work everyday, so I know what I'm getting. The new P4's are more powerfully than the AMD for what I want them to do.

Planned Upgrade

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz w/533
ASUS P5T533-C
512MB PC1066 Kingston RDRAM

Additional Upgrades - Please help me with these upgrades.

350W Power Supply
GeForce4 4600 Video Card

A faster internet connection will speed up the porn flow much faster than a slightly faster processor. ;)

The point people are trying to make is that there are better things you can do to your machine to get a speed improvement than adding a marginally faster processor. Upgrading to get an Intel processor just because you don't like something intangible on your AMD CPU just seems ignorant.

THe processor and memory are fine.....people are just trying to point outr that you will not see any great benefits....

-I would get an ANTEC TRUE 430 Powwer SUpply ($72. 00 at newegg..com)

-GEforece 4600..I would wait a little while to get the 9700 which is a great deal faster.

-SCSI...YOu have never lived till you have used it . nuff said

Why do you care about what CPU I have in my PC? I'm not asking anyone about what type of CPU I should get or if it's a good choice. More than likely I will install the AMD into my Wife's PC. So get off my back about me getting a Intel CPU. If you have any advice about the Power Supply or Video Card let me know, otherwise I don't want to hear it. I'm very stubborn, so try to change my mind about the CPU is useless. I'm not spending anybody's money but my own, so there is nothing anybody needs to worry about. All I'm wanting help with is the Power Supply and Video Card. I'm here looking for advice on a couple things, and I'm not here to be called an idiot.

Goosemaster, thaniks for the advice. When do you think the Video Cards will be out? SCSI maybe something I go to in the future, but now I have a WD 120GB SE.

im agreeing with the guy above, since it sounds like you have more money than i do

i would wait just a tad bit longer for the ATI 9700
and get an Antec Truepower supply say the 430 watt or higher

You do whatever you want, like you said, it's your money. If you want to know about power supplies and GeForce 4s ask about them. Don't expect to not hear any comments when you post the other parts of the upgrade that make little sense to the rest of the world. If you don't want any comments about that part, don't post it.

And just so you don't think I'm an AMD zealot, I run 2 windows machines, a PIII 933 deskop and a PIII 1GHz laptop.

Awwwww, cant afford Intel? It's ok, here's a cookie.

Honestly though, I had a Athlon XP 1900+ setup and now I have an OC'ed 1.6a at 2.4ghz and not only is it noticebly faster, IT DOSENT ACT AS A SPACE HEATER. That being said, GO INTEL LasombraB, you wont regret it. Dont bother with SCSI, the performance is just not worth it unless you go 15,000rpm, and those thing's make NOISE. I had an SCSI setup and ditched it for a Samsung Spin Point drive, it's seek time's are awsome, and there is no rotation nosie whatsoever.

Which part of the above "both of my machines are Intel" post did you not understand? If I were building a machine today, I'd put in another Intel system. I just haven't seen a reason to upgrade yet.
