Computer Upgrade Help

I need help in deciding a computer upgrade because I have only two options.

My Current Specs

A64 3200+ Winchester Core
Gigabyte K8n Ultra Sli Motherboard
XFX 7800GT
Kingston 512*4/1GB*2 DDR 400MHZ RAM

The two options:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Kingston 512MB*4 DDR2 667MHZ RAM
Intel 965 Motherboard or recommend some other budget motherboard (I'm not into overclocking so i need a decent motherboard for a decent price)

OR

XFX 8800GTS 320MB

I can only afford one of the above choices and I am a PC gamer so which option is the better one?

I'd get the Core 2 Duo... it'll give you the foundation you need for future video card upgrades when the 2nd generation of DX10 compatible cards come out.

If you only care about increasing gaming performance now, you should go with the 8800GTS 320mb & see if you can get a decent overclock out of your 3200+ ... changing CPU's isn't going to make any significant difference in gaming performance with a 7800GT, but the GTS will make a huge difference despite being somwhat limited by your slowish single-core cpu.

Edit: One thing in favor of going with the C2D is the fact that DDR2 is very cheap right now & theres no telling how long that will last, while its a sure thing that GPU prices will continue to fall.
