my current specs is

i got a offer of upgrading just my qx6800 with a qx9770 with a top up of $250 usd

is it worth the money/performance or i sell of my cpu+mb+ram for $360 usd and get a i7 920 + mb + ddr3 ?

kinda confuse here

thanks🙂

Why do you feel the need to upgrade ? What is your system not doing well ? Or do you just feel like upgrading ?

My general advice is that you you are upgrading, change to a newer platform, don't put money into an old platform.

So, get the 920.

just think that my rig is kinda old haha
i think its better i just use back my old cpu and save up for a gpu
getting a i7 will require me to sell all my lga 775 parts..

So you are just looking to spend money for shiny & new?

A good old'un should be fine, until it doesn't job done fast enough. But as Mark asked, do you actually have a usage reason for upgrading? Because sometimes shiny & new doesn't get the job done much better (perceptively).

Your system is still good. Upgrade the GPU, get another 4GBs of ram or get an SSD. It should survive until next year for Sandy Bridge/Bulldozer.

This, upgrade to an SSD drive and wait a year for a really good platform upgrade, 2011 platforms are what almost all 775 owners have set their goals upon.
