Howdy!

I have a computer using a Chaintech GeForce4 Ti4200 with S-Video connected to my TV which has S-Video on "Video 1" (Sony Wega). I used the adapter that came with the video card which goes into the video card and has two plugs...one for S-Video in and one for out. I plugged the adapter in, put in my S-Video cable in the "out" plug and then plugged the other end of the cable into the S-Video jack on the back of my TV (the S-Video jack in the back of the TV is "Video 1"). That's about as far as I can get, I'm not sure what do to from here. I try playing a DIVX through Windows MediaPlayer, yet nothing shows on the TV even though I have it set to Video 1. What am I missing? I checked through the Chaintech's manual and didn't see any special procedure to go through.

Thanks for any help!

If you boot your computer with only the S-Video plugged in, you should get a desktop on your TV.

But what you more likely want to do is get the latest Detonator drivers from nVidia and enable a function called "TwinView" in the Display Properties panel.

Hey I know the pain.
As the Merc said - First, make sure your video cable is plugged into your card AND your TV--- and your TV is on!
Go to your Display Properties/settings/advanced to open the new set of tabs specific to your card.
Go to the tab that lists your card e.g. geForce4Ti4200 (etc) and open the sidebar menu to enable CLONE.
You may have to hit apply or OK to get it to stick-you will see both your monitor and the Tv in the little screen on the top of that tab (and suddenly -if all goes well-also on the Display/settings screen, too).
Once that happens go down that same tab and hit device settings-make sure you have S-video enabled.
Go to sidebar menu again and select Overlay Controls- if the drop down menus are active you are real close to Nirvana, baby.
select Enable on the top and Mirror on the bottom menu. Hit Apply/OK-whatever that particular Nvidia driver of the day likes to accept. I like to keep my VGA monitor as monitor 1 and the TV as monitor 2-just to be simple.

Do not make your TV your primary monitor - unless you have mouse capabilities next to the TV. Believe me it can be pretty damn funny to control the mouse with a blank monitor and have your wife screaming from the TV room, " just a little bit more to the right..."
On your way out, You may want to make sure that on the Display Properties/settings tab the option to mirror my settings on this monitor is checked when you highlight your TV in the new Display screen you will now see above the resolution and quality slides on this tab. By highlighting your TV on this tab you can go back to the advanced menu again and tinker with the settings specific to the highlighted display. 60 Hz is what the NTSC standard is, but using the Dscaler program you can trick-out your settings to optimize your particular viewing device. Mine- a big ass 51inchSony that is fed about 40 feet of S-video from the basement. I got some inexpensive, high-quality combo cable at Lastar (for about $25) that combine the red/white RCA sound with the S-video for the entire run, keeping the cable lengths identical and avoiding any unwanted side-effects. It is more than an excellent picture to view my avi's and rock to my winamp viz-do NOT waste your money on expensive cables. You will need the cash to warm over your woman after the adventure you will put her through. Along that line, you may want to line up a chick flick for the official PC-TV premiere. But that is just my opinion.

From experience: A remote/wireless mouse also eliminates any upstairs/downstairs running for QA adjustments.

Good Luck. It is worth the effort.
