Computer turns on?

Sometimes my computer will just decide to turn back on for no reason at all, and there is nothing I can do about it except unplug it from the wall or turn off the PSU. When I turn off the power on the PSU, I can see it try to turn on (for about half a sec), and then turn off since it doesn't have enough power.

I do not have the digicell software setup to turn the system on.

Any suggestions? Rig is in the sig.

Have you disabled WAKE ON LAN or WAKE ON MODEM in the bios, this is often the cause if the PC is always connected to the phone line.
as soon as some one tries to call your home phone, the PC switches on.

If wake on LAN is off, then check the power switch (on the case and the motherboard), make sure it isn't stuck or lose.

This is the most likely cause other than a short or something in the power supply or system switch.

I have verified in the BIOS that nothing under the "wake on" area is enabled.

I've checked the wire for the power switch.

Anything else, other than swapping out the PSU?

Thanks for the help :)

I noticed today it didn't happen at all. Not sure if this leads one to believe it is more of a PSU issue than something else...

It may be....a ghost! Lol, j/k. Umm...I think you can make your computer turn on without changing anything in the BIOS. Like you can make the comp turn on and wake you up with Winamp and stuff like that. How long has this been happening?

Just a couple of months, it seems like AFTER I bought this Dynex UPS, but i'm not sure what effect that would have.

I was having this exact problem recently, with the same mobo no less. I had to reformat a couple weeks ago b/c of other problems and after that it stopped. Kinda odd but it worked. Might want to keep it in mind if nothing else works.

Is BIOS on latest released version ?

If so, might want to try resetting CMOS. Make sure you follow the motherboard manufacturers' directions EXACTLY, but FIRST write down all BIOS settings so you can set them back to their present settings BEFORE you boot back to hard drive.

Good luck.
