I have an old computer that I had to replace because of some issues with it but now I really want to fix it and get it running again.

The problem I'm having is that when the computer turns on, everything starts running (fans, lights, screen) but the screen never displays anything. It just sits with a lit black screen.

I think i got it in 2007 it's a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9339.
If anyone has any advise it would be appreciated.

Shine a strong light on the LCD and see if you see a faint Windows image. If so then you probably need a new LCD inverter.

Also try connecting an external monitor to the VGA port on the laptop to see if you can get any video signal.

Thanks, but I tried both and neither worked. There is no windows image and it will not recognize a seperate monitor.
This problem started in the past when it was on warantee and sent it in 3 seperate times and they never really fixed the problem. Instead on the 4th time I called them they told me it was out of warantee and they wont touch it.....

According to the specs for your model you have a dedicated video card, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS. It sounds like it has failed. If you are up to it you can try taking it apart and reseating the video card and making sure it has thermal paste and the heatsink is attached properly. Or you could bring it to a local repair shop and see if they can fix it for a reasonable cost.

With the problems you have had in the past with it and now it's out of warranty you will probably need to buy a new laptop. Don't buy another Toshiba. I would also write a scathing letter to Toshiba complaining about the problems you have had and they never really fixed it under warranty.
