Hello guys . After I replaced my thermal paste 2 days ago , when I turn on my computer and after few seconds it shutdowns instantly and after few seconds it starts up again and works fine.

Does anyone know the cause , why it happens ? Can it be a PSU problem or similar ?

Spec :

16 gb ram ddr3
AsRock x58 EXTREME
Nvidia gtx 460 PALIT
CPU : Intel core i7 950 3.07 ghz socket 1366 LGA
PSU Cougar Powerx 550w
Windows 8.1 x64
Storage : 119 gb liteonit LCS-128M6S & 1TB Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 I think

I used a small amount of thermal paste, which I usually use. And I checked if it was fastened down , the heatsink I mean .

Thank you !

So it never did that before you replaced the thermal paste? If so, I don't see why it would be a PSU problem. However, it would not hurt to replace that unit with a more reliable and higher quality one.

Exactly what paste did you use?

What prompted you to replace the paste in the first place?

Maybe some paste has spilled onto the board around the CPU socket.
