Computer turns itself on after a few hours!

Hi,

I've just upgraded a computer for a friend of a friend and it's doing something weird: a few hours after he shuts it down it just turns on! I thought maybe I connected the power switch to the MB the wrong way around, so I reversed it. Power switch still works, computer still turns itself on. Last time it happened about half an hour after it was turned on. It's a new ATX PSU (cheapo 300W), Gigabyte 7ZXE MB, Duron 1000 CPU, Windows 98 SE. He says he shuts it down from the start menu and then presses the button to turn it off. I thought this was a bit strange, because Windows should turn off the power by itself. He said it does, but he presses the button anyway "to make sure". Of course this could explain the fact the computer goes back on, but it should do that immediately not half an hour later! I really have no clue what's going on and it's quite embarassing! Please help!

You might want to check in the BIOS for two settings called Wake On LAN or Wake on Modem.

Switch these off/set to disabled. That's probably what is causing the computer to start by itself.

Yep, I think that was it! Thank you! I don't know how it came to be enabled though, because it was a new MB and I sure it didn't set it to Enabled...
