I was offered a on site tech job. You have to go to your clients house and fix their computer. You use your own car, and cell phone, you make your own hours and schedual, and you get 30% of whatever the bill is. Just buy showing up to the house you charge $49.95.

Thing is, they want 300$ for equipment and work shirts and stuff. $150 up front, and $150 on your first pay.

Briefly;
Use your own car and cell phone
30% of what the bill is, is yours
Make your own hours
Must pay $300

This company has been up for a year now, and they are expanding (so they say). You also have to try and sell new hardware and stuff to the clients as long as tech support to.

THey say you average $15-$20/hour, but you need to pay your gas, car usage, cell phone bill.

What are your thoughts on this? I'm a college student btw.
Thanks

forge them... if u have the skills put up some flyers at school u be surprised how many phone calls u get.. make everything professional...

I'd offer to give them the $300 once you make it off them. Avoid "buying in" at all costs!

I would undercut them and post flyers in the dorms at your school, and any local primary/high schools. You will make way better money that way, and you don't have to front the $300.

Years ago I did this. I was paid $20 per job. I drove 2200 miles in 6 days. I quit on my 6th day. I made like 500 bucks. I'd rather work at Blockbuster or something.

that company called me a year ago. I said ok, you can put me in your technician list. But ever since then, i have not recieved one job phone call. They didn't ask me for money though.

Fvck no. You'll pay that $300 and they will give you a single shift to get the first pay day money, then they probably won't have enough clients to call you again.

What a rip off.

You could offer the clients $39.95 per hour, and they would get a better deal and you'd be making more. Use that $300 get your own uniform and business cards made.

I've thought about putting up flyers. Does that work?

Worked great when I was in college...until the school realized we were horning in on their business and would not give us approval to advertise on campus our second year.

Oh...and I would never put up money to get a job.

It's a win/win for them. Do not get a job at a place that COSTS money to get hired. It's a scam, even if it is a legitimate job, it's still a scam.

fvck them..

> they want 300$ for equipment

what kind of POS cost $300 ?

> 30% of what the bill is, is yours

they take 70% doing NOTHING ?

me think so too.

btw, I won't let ANY teen fix/repair pc stuff, they always claim they know the sh!t, but in fact they don't.

Not that I agree with this crappy offer, but in a service-oriented industry 30% for billable time is pretty damn good if they can keep you busy.
