Computer Stuttering

It started a couple of weeks ago, and now the stuttering wont stop. My pc freezes a few seconds and it starts to skip songs/games.

Is there a solution to this?



I've disk defragged and checked for spyware and it didnt solve anything.

Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000
Nvidia Asus 6600GT
Asus A8V-E Deluxe (motherboard)
160 gig HDD
1 gig ram

Chances are it's either something running in the background or a driver issue. Press ctrl-alt-del to bring up task manager>processes. System idle should be at least 98% when everything is closed.

If that checks out then go control panel>system>hardware>device manager and make sure the drivers names for your video and audio match your hardware.
