Computer Startup

Hello,

This is my first post, so bare with me.

I have this problem when starting up my computer.. everytime i start it up.. it wont boot past the point where it shows you the Processor, Memory, HD info unless i hit "ESC."

And if i dont press it, it'll just keep on restarting upto that point.

Any clues, idea, etc..?

Try posting more info about the specs of your computer. Also when did the problem start? Is it a new build? The more info you give, the easier it is to diagnose the problem.

Sorry about that,

Computer Specs:
AMD 3000+ 64bit Athlon
Gigbyte Mobo
2gigs Ram
Leadtek 128MB 6600GT AGP
2x120gig HD

I think it started when i got a new video card (6600GT 128MB AGP). But seems to run fine when logged in, playings games, etc..

Give us some info on your Power supply. Sounds like you may have a PSU issue with the new graphics card.

Power Supply is an Antec 550 Watt
Windows XP Pro OS

Doesn't sound like a graphics problem. Make sure you unplug any usb hard drives and the like. I have seen many problems with Bios' searching infinitely for usb drives. if that doesn't work i would start messing with setting in BIOS. Since you haven't got past POST then your answer is going to be in the BIOS. Try booting into safe mode in windows (F8) and uninstall your previous graphics drivers so that you have none installed.

Also when it hangs, any error messages?

Thanks, I dont have any USB HD besides an external one. Also, I'll try the uninstalling part when i get home.

As for error messages, there isn't any. I'll try to post a small video clip when i get home.. and maybe that will tell more than my explaining!

Very useful video, that should help.

It seems like it's having problems at the point where it's detecting ATA/SATA drives. Try unplugging every optical drive or spare hard drive except the OS drive, and see if it does it.

I would rule out PSU issues, your PSU is powerful enough and the system would show other signs of problems under heavy use like gaming.

You just might rearrange the way drives are jumpered, if you have 2 drives on one ATA cable as cable select, set the one on the end of the cable to master and the other drive to slave.

I looked at the video again and saw something that i've never noticed before because it loads up pretty quick... Screen Shot - Picture -- Hope this will lead to something?!
