Before I get started, I have an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum MB and I'm running WinXP Pro. I also have 2 computers connected to a Netgear WG614 v6 wireless router, which is in turn connected to a Westell DSL modem. If you guys need more info, I can post that too. Now to the problem:
So a few minutes after I turn off my computer, it mysteriously turns back on all on its own. This problem just sort of started happening a couple months ago and I just haven't had any time to do anything about it recently. Honestly, I was kinda hoping it was some kind of freak incident, but it keeps happening. I don't recall doing any major installs of really anything on the computer during that time, and we'd already had DSL for a month or two before it started doing that.
I did some research, and pretty much everybody was saying that it's a Wake on LAN setting that causes the computer to power on when it receives a signal through the LAN.
So I restarted and went to my BIOS. I have a number of "Wake On" settings, but a) none of them are "Wake on LAN" and b) they're all disabled anyway.
Then I updated my BIOS, but the options are still all the same. Then to try to diagnose the problem, I shut the computer down and unplugged the ethernet cable from the computer and it hasn't restarted since. So now I'm basically positive now that it is some sort of "Wake on LAN" setting, but I have no idea where to find it or how to disable it.
Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
