Computer started beeping. What does this mean?

My computer just started beeping and I can't figure out why. I have heard that there are particular sets of beeps signaling a problem, but there is no pattern to these beeps. It sounds like one of those old pong games from the 70's.

Any ideas? The system is 3 years old now, so I wouldn't think that it would be the CMOS battery. Would it?

TIA,

Sal

I would assume overheating as well. Might check that all your fans are working properly. If you haven't cleaned the dust out of the case recently, you might also want to check that.

How long did it beep? Were you doing anything at the time?
