Computer start up concern

So ever since I put this rig together, I've had a weird problem: 2 in 3 times when I start it from the off position, it would "fire up" for 5 secs or so, immediately shut off (before I see anything on the monitor), then fire up again for real. The 2nd fire up always goes all the way through and then the machine works without a hitch. Is this something I should be worried about and if so, what's the cause/fix? Thanks!

When you say fire up and immediately shut off does it require you to press the power button or is it doing a type of cycling where you hear the system fans and drives spinning up then settling in when you see the bios screen? Since you are using a UPS unit do you have it hooked up via USB for monitoring? Does it do it if you remove the power cord for the system from the UPS and plug it directly to the wall?

The lights on my case come on and I hear the system spin up (drives and all) but nothing is on the monitor yet. Sound-wise, it basically "starts" normally for 5 secs, then shuts off (lights sound, everything.) It then starts up again on its own (no need to press button.)

I haven't tried it directly at the wall yet because the plug doesn't reach and I haven't done this USB monitoring thing.

If that doesn't address it I'm curious if there is a known system boot cold start issue with that particular board? If that is the issue then maybe it has been addressed via system bios update.

Does it do the same thing if you do a system restart from the OS - not a shutdown?

Nope, system restarts work fine. Also, it isn't every time but it is most of the time.

So have you attempted the cold boot directly from the wall or checking for bios update to address possible cold boot issue yet?

i have seen this many times.

both gigabyte and asus have this issue, where it starts to power on and then turns off and then starts normally.

bios update fixes this issue :)
